About Jerry

Jerry Hogan graduated from the University of Illinois and immediately entered the US Army where he spent the next twenty years. While in the Army, he spent three years in the Army elite Special Forces Green Berets, worked for the Secretary of Defense, taught at one of our war colleges, became a Master Parachutist, served in combat in Vietnam, and commanded a Battalion of eight hundred Soldiers in the 8th Infantry Division in Europe during the Cold War.

Upon leaving the Army, he went to work for an IBM Company where he was a Vice President. He joined MCI Telecommunication as Vice President and ran the engineering and construction group located in Dallas. While in this position, he had 1500 people working for him, a yearly operating budget of $120 Million and a capital budget of over $1 Billion dollars. He was responsible for the engineering and construction of the worldwide MCI telecommunication network and physical facilities. He became President of one of the MCI companies where he was responsible for all aspects of its operation and profitability.

His wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease at the early age of 47 and she died 5 years later. He was introduced to a lady in Rockwall, Diane Luby , whose husband had died of cancer and they married and now live in Buffalo Creek in Heath, Texas.

Since moving to Heath, Mr. Hogan volunteers to write a weekly column called “The Military View” for three newspapers where he writes the true, real life stories of our local men and women serving in the armed forces. Over the last four years, he has written 238 of these articles that have been printed not only in the local newspapers, but also in several magazines and appear extensively on the internet through the web site www.themilitaryview.com. Mr. Hogan also volunteers to teach and discuss International current events with residents of two local retirement homes and he speaks at many local organizations on International Terrorism and National Defense issues.

Mr. Hogan has four children, all college graduates, and six grandchildren. He has a Bachelors and Masters degree in engineering plus an MBA degree in Business.
